My, my--looking at the date stamp, it's easy to see that the last few months have been deadly quiet here at the blog. Let me tell you, that's not what I originally envisioned.
So what happened? It turns out that publishing, especially self-pub, is an intense endeavor with some recovery time required, if you have the luxury--and boy did I take some recovery time. I pushed the book, and pushed the book, and....realized that I risked spamming the hell out of family, friends, and total strangers, all to my detriment.
As a new entrant into the book market, I have NO street cred--and that's okay. When you rely on word of mouth and positive reviews, it comes as a trickle, rather than a stream. And that's why a long-term plan is important. Exposure comes with time, and my job now is to be writing the next book (and other projects as they present themselves). A slow build is still a build, and I'm no one-hit wonder.
I just need to figure out how to improve my time-to-market. I have a few ideas, and I will be exploring those as I go along. In the meantime, thank you for your support and interest--every review and every reader discussion reminds me why I love the hell out of what I do.
